Biography
Dr. Wilson is a world expert on corneal wound healing and the functions of growth factors and receptors in the corneal wound healing. His recent work on corneal fibrosis and its relationship to defective epithelial basement membrane regeneration after injury, infection and surgery has provided groundbreaking insights into corneal scarring. Dr. Wilson has been corneal trustee for ARVO, the world’s largest vision research organization. He has received numerous awards including a Senior Honor Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) in 2004, Lans Distinguished Lecturer Award from ISRS-AAO in 2006, ARVO Gold Fellow in 2009, Lifetime Presidential Award from ISRS-AAO in 2009, the Jose Ignacio Barraquer Award from International Congress of Cataract and Refractive Surgery in 2010, and the Richard L. Lindstrom CLAO Award Lecture at ASCRS in 2013.
